The UN  have designated the 1st October as ‘International Older Persons Day’, and to celebrate – Caraway hosted a wonderful Tea Dance!

The fun afternoon included Professional Dancers from the DM Dance School coaching us through steps from the Foxtrot, the Waltz and a Tango as well as some Line Dancing.

A Scrummy Afternoon Tea was laid on with beautifully presented Scones and Cakes whilst the brilliant band ‘Second Wind’ serenaded us with some traditional tunes, before more dancing with the live music to finish.

There were smiles and laughter all around as people remembered steps from their youth and gave new things a try. It was also wonderful to see people meeting new friends. One of our Volunteers said:

“I danced with a wonderful lady who told me with a cheeky glint in her eye, that she used to be a Tiller Girl! It was brilliant watching her enjoy the dancing and recollect stories from her lifetime”.

A big Thank You to everyone who volunteered to make this a truly special occasion.
